01 · Why I created it

Visual follow-up breaks down when reference images are missing or disconnected from clinical context.

I began with a recurring gap I observed in clinical practice, then investigated it through an exploratory owner survey, veterinary feedback, and veterinary and human-health literature. When reference images are missing—or disconnected from anatomy and time—clinicians and pet owners may struggle to see how a condition is changing, meaning improvement or deterioration can be missed or recognised late. This weakens continuity when care passes between team members, makes comparison more subjective and creates avoidable uncertainty and repeated follow-up questions.

02 · The product direction

Connect each visual record to anatomy, context and time.

Dermatology provided the first use case because progress is often slow, subtle and highly dependent on visual comparison. DermaPetTrack structures serial images and follow-up information into an anatomically anchored longitudinal record designed around clinic-to-home continuity.

03 · The core workflow

Anchor → Capture → Compare.

A simple foundational flow helps users locate the area, record relevant evidence and return to the same clinical context over time.

Research into the core visual problem also surfaced adjacent gaps in clinic-to-home continuity. I separated what needed to be built first from what should be explored next, then translated the broader direction into a modular roadmap, detailed requirements and selected high-fidelity concepts.

How I developed DermaPetTrack

DermaPetTrack, developed across the full product journey.

Every step below belongs to one continuous product. Together, they show how I translate a real veterinary-care problem affecting both clinical teams and pet owners into evidence, product decisions and a working experience a multidisciplinary team can evaluate and build upon.

    Observe and research

    I combined clinical observation, exploratory owner survey data, veterinary feedback and veterinary and human-health literature to investigate visual follow-up and adjacent continuity gaps.

  2. 02

    Frame the product

    I translated the findings into a focused first-module scope, user journeys, priorities, success criteria and a modular product strategy for related care workflows.

  3. 03

    Define and prototype

    I wrote a detailed PRD, developed the modular roadmap and created selected high-fidelity Figma workflows focused on clarity, continuity and clinical relevance.

  4. 04

    Deliver a functional beta

    I took selected workflows from product definition and prototype into a working Android and web beta, making practical product decisions through implementation.

  5. 05

    Test, learn and refine

    I conducted hands-on usability reviews and used what I learned to refine navigation, comprehension and the core follow-up workflow.

About me

Veterinary medicine showed me where better software can help care go further.

I am a Spanish veterinarian with clinical experience in Spain and Canada. I have always cared deeply about animals and the human–animal bond, while also being fascinated by how things work.

Clinical practice showed me that improving care also means improving the systems around it: how information is structured, how progress is followed and how teams and owners stay connected. DermaPetTrack became my way of working on that challenge.
